In order for a high-pressure washer to provide the optimal cleaning effect, the different pump sizes require their very own nozzles to a calibrated size.
Our nozzles are colour coded to distinguish which washers they are compatible with:
Green: P30-P60
Blue: P70-P80
Purple: P90
In addition, some nozzles may have white or red markings, in which case the nozzle was delivered packaged with a P30 or P40 high-pressure washer, and is not sold as an individual part.
We also have different markings for the angle of the nozzles, see further down in the article for more information.
Until 2021, we labelled our nozzles as in the pictures below:
After a few years' experience, we saw that for many (including us) it can be difficult to tell the difference between green and blue in this form. It can be particularly problematic if, for example, you have a Master P80 at home, and a GO P55 at your cabin or in your boathouse, and thus different nozzles sizes are required, and they could be easy to mix up. As an improvement, from 2021 we have introduced a more visible labelling system, pictured below:
Here, the tip of the bayonet (specifically the O-ring fixer) becomes the actual color code in this case green), and in addition the "neck" of the bayonet is marked with text (in this case P30-P60).
When you buy a new machine, you will of course get the nozzles that are adapted to suit the power of your particular machine, whereas when you buy loose nozzles, you must ensure that they are the right size.
If you get a nozzle opening that is too small (the small hole from which all the water comes out), the machine will be begin to "chase" or pulse - i.e. turn itself on and off continuously while in use. This happens because the machine reaches maximum pressure, and switches off in the same way as when you release the pistol grip, but does so becasue the nozzle aperture is too small. A few seconds later it turns on again, because the pressure drops as water continues to come out of the nozzle. This will not only be terribly annoying, but is also potentially harmful to the machine.
In the opposite case, if the nozzle is too large in relation to the pump's power, you quickly lose a significant amount of pressure. This has no practical meaning beyond the fact that you usually spend longer at work, and perhaps you will never discover this at all.
AVA has a system that describes the power of the pump/motor with the designations P30 all the way up to P90;
- A Smart P60 and a Master P60 will have the same capacity, and therefore use the same nozzle. A Master P60 and Master P80 are the same machine on the outside, but have different powers that require different.
Color code for the angles of nozzle.
In addition to our way of differentiating nozzle sizes, there is also a standard for marking different angles of spray from the nozzles.
You can find these on the tip, together with the angle in degrees embossed on the nozzle in question. This looks like this:
0 degrees: red
15 degrees: yellow
25 degrees: green
40 degrees: white
60 degrees: blue
Patio cleaners and some other products currently only available for P30-P80.
We have loose nozzles for the P90, and terrace washers also come with loose nozzles, so that you can continue to use it even if you have had a smaller machine before. This can be purchased in our online store
