Can I use salt water in my AVA washer?

All AVA high-pressure washers can be used with salt water. There are however, some things to consider if you do:

You must make sure that the water filter is clean at all times, and you will probably have stop and clean it if it becomes dirty along the way.

After use, it is important to rinse the machine through thoroughly with fresh water, and this should be done as quickly as possible after you have finished.

Then we recommend that you spray some CRC or a similar lubricant into the water intake while running the machine for 10 seconds without water.

Remember that the machine can be run without water for a maximum of 63 seconds.

If the machine is used with salt water, it can accelerate the need for service, especially if you do not follow our tips above. All parts that can be damaged by salt water can be replaced as part of your next service. 

As an example: You wash with salt water, and leave the machine untouched in the garage until next year. There is a high chance that something has gone wrong during storage period (e.g. valves seizing), and you will need a service. This is not covered by the warranty, but you can do it yourself with the help of our instructional videos. Service kits can be ordered in our spare parts shop.

If you want use the machine to, for example rinse the underside of your boat while it is at sea, this also works perfectly. The accessories can withstand being used with salt water, but must be cleaned carefully afterwards. Remember to rinse thoroughly through with fresh water as soon as possible after use, and preferably leave the accessories in fresh water for 30 minutes before packing them away.
