AVA use two different types of electric motors on different models:
These are an universal motor (pictured below on the left) and induction motor (pictured below on the right). We use these types of motor in varying sizes/powers based on the power rating of the machine.
Both of these are common types of motor that are used in countless products, including in electronic high pressure washers regardless of brand and type.
AVA uses high-quality motors, and different sizes/types of motor depending on the model of the machine:
AVA V3 pumps, i.e. machines with a 3-piston pump, use a universal motor (SMART, GO & EASY)
AVA V4 pumps, i.e. machines with a 4-piston pump, use an induction motor (MASTER & EVOLUTION)
AVA V6 pumps use induction motors (EVOLUTION P90 V6 and the AVA V6 built into a metal frame)
The basic pros and cons of each motor type can be summarised as follows:
Universal Motor:
Benefits
- Low cost
- Small and lightweight
- Does not require a lot of power
Disadvantages
- High RPM
- Noisier than induction motors
- Lower lifespan than induction motors
Induction Motor:
Benefits
- Long lifetime
- Lower RPM
- Stable performance
Disadvantages
- Expensive
- Large and heavy
- Requires more power to run
In other words, the motor type is quite essential to the characteristics of the machine. Regardless of which machine you choose, we can assure you that the motors we use are of high quality, and are all cooled to allow for self suction, and water cooling can cause very costly damage in the event of frost.
The induction motor has a lifetime of around 5,000 hours, so with semi-regular service our machines our machines should be able to serve you for many years to come!
